January needs a “Queen of Speed”

January vibes. I find the word “vibes” and January itself a bit double-edged. Are the vibes good or evil? It all depends on the context and the news you get. This January seems a bit saturated with both.

2025 started with the red carpet news celebrating the Golden Globe winners followed by devastating wildfires spreading across LA.

My LinkedIn displayed freshly baked ‘Trend Reports’ [lots of Nostradamus across the globe] and new threats with the rise of AI deepfakes.

I met with New Year enthusiasts doing dry January and they are all counting down as can’t wait for the month to finish.

Scrolling socials seemed to have the same algorithm, showing Elon M. and Mark Z. becoming BBFs with the new US government plus Trump back in the White House. There is nothing good about that; bad and worse I will say. Anyway, I don’t like commenting on politics as it makes me feel older, not wiser.

Switching off the screens, I saw my garden blossoming when it was -5°C outside. Hot N Cold. Katy Perry’s lyrics added here could be of help to set the Guinness record for the first yin-yang article.

January, January, what happened to you? I searched for an etymological explanation as there isn’t a logical one. January is named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings, endings, and transitions. Janus is often depicted with two faces, one looking forward and one looking backward.

Ahhhh, it all makes sense now. 🤥

Keeping with the nonsense, some people believe the first 12 days of January can be a visualization of the next 12 months. The 2nd of Jan predicts your Feb, the 3rd stands for March and so on. Which means, that if you had a lazy day on the 2nd of January… that’s it, February will be a long nap for you haha. Not sure about this theory but I like to think people already had the best 12 days of their lives.

All of this to tell you, I recently watched a documentary called “Queen of Speed“. Directed by award-winning Barbie MacLaurin and produced by Drum Studios. It’s so good, inspiring and more energizing than 10 green smoothies in your January detox. Who better than the Director to tell you the storyline?

“Queen of Speed tells the incredible story of one woman’s rise to the top of the male-dominated world of rallying in the 70s and 80s. She made history as the first and only woman to win rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship and the last woman to compete in top-level rallying, cementing her reputation as one of the greatest motorsport drivers of all time.”

I could write a beautiful metaphoric last paragraph saying… a new year feels like a new race with plenty of loops and strong competitors next to you… but we don’t have time for this. January is almost over. Set your goal, foot on the pedal and go.
